The sun finally came out in Wanaka and just in time for the fourth annual Challenge Wanaka. It was a perfect day (although some would argue a little hot) and the town was buzzing with race atmosphere.

The first lot of swimmers took off at 7am with a bit of a cold dip considering it was only 14 degrees. However once underway on the bike most warmed up before taking on their run. Abby Carrington, Merryn Johnston & Lucy Fullerton of Racers Edge did us very proud with their amazing efforts competing on the day so well done to them you guys are incredible.

The effort of the volunteers in the race was also amazing as this would not have been possible without them. The boys & girls in the bike shop did over 1500 bike and helmet checks over the past two weeks which is a pretty great effort. The town was absolutely bursting with tri-athletes and supporters many of whom are still here enjoying the warm weather.

Challenge Wanaka is an awesome event for us and we love being a part of it. Its awesome to see so many local Wanaka people not only helping but participating as well.
David Drake one of our bike mechanics and sponsored riders was out the back of Hawea riding last weekend getting in some practise for “The Big ‘not so’ Easy” which takes place on Saturday.
Lucy’s (much deserved) new mountain bike has finally arrived and is ready to go.. After a quick ride with me the other night Lucy shot home to Hawea and is eager to get back out on it i’d say!
Fingers crossed for more good weather!
