Giant Bike Demo 14th Feb

Hey!

We are hosting a Giant Bikes demo on St Valentines day – Feb 14th 2012.

We will have the following:

XTC hardtail in 29″

Anthem XC in 29″

Trance Freeride/Tail in 26″

The all mountain Reign in 26″

The Talon in 29″

Its all happening at the Deans Bank track accessed from the Albert Town campground. The tent will be up and the BBq will be steaming, so come down and check Giant’s awesome range  of bangforyourbuck bikes.

What a very big week last week was. In fact since New Year the anticipation and interest grew with the final week being an all out work frenzy. Every bike (and helmet) was checked and stickered by The Mechanics and invariably a service or some extra need was the result.

The shop is very proud of all our customers who tested themselves in a gruelling series of events from the kids 1:2:1 Tri introduction on Friday all the way thru to the full Ironman. Our sponsored racer Simone Maier did her self proud with a 3rd placing, cracking her self imposed 10hour benchmark. She was in 6th position after the bike leg and put in an incredibly gutsy run to move up to 3rd.

Fiona Hezinger, coach at the Wanaka Smim Club leads by example coming out of the lake in 1st place in the Woman’s Contact Trophy event.

Love this shot, so much going on. The little scooter in the background, and the Elite Friday night Triathletes trying to catch it. What are they thinking? Local Wanaka man Tony Dodds with the no 1 on his helmet fights hard to repeat last years win but had to settle for 3rd.

The 3 : 9 : 3 NZ Tri Friday afternoon racing. Incredibly it was basically kids doing this race. Only a handful of adults. Little buggers!

Rob is a local Wanaka man. Although a very good runner, up untill 2 years ago he could hardly swim! So the fact he completed the full Iron distance in a very respectable time of 12:37, 3rd in his class, event speaks hugely of his resolution. Here he is running by his business truck, aptly named ‘Working Dogz’.

Simone Maier, Wanaka’s own hot tip for a podium in the womens individual full distance event had the town on tenterhooks moving into 3rd place practically within sight of the finish line. A gutsy ‘in the zone’ run brought her home.

This is Jack. What can be said about a chap dressed in pink from head to toe running for a female cause? Simple: Champ.
